HEALTHY LIVING

Blessed morning this Friday morning, Your Excellency.

Thank God It’s Friday. How are you doing?

My friend, Mr Emmanuel shared this story with me at the Port Harcourt international airport, “My 85 year-old mum has a co-morbidity of hypertension and diabetes. Her blood pressure was over 200 and glucose level over 250. For six months she was on various medication and perpetual hospitalization. Instead of getting better, it became worse. I moved her to different top hospitals in Nigeria and they couldn’t find a lasting solution. The suffering was too much. So, I decided to take her to United States. In US, our medical practitioner was a 28 year-old single lady. For the first 3 days the only thing they did was investigation. So, I decided to ask her what was going on. She told me that they found out that Mama had a challenge with her thyroid and that was why the drugs weren’t working. So, she placed mama on a diabetic diet and instructed her to do an hour morning and evening EXERCISE by walking round the hospital. After 2 weeks, the blood pressure and sugar level were normal. The interesting thing about this was mama never took any drug before we came back to Nigeria.”

EXERCISE REGULARLY LIKE USEN BOLT.

We all agree that exercise is good for our body. But how good is it? Exercise helps us combat health challenges and diseases. Exercise helps to prevent and manage health conditions like hypertension, depression, diabetes and arthritis just to name a few. Exercise helps in weight management by helping us to burn calories which are harmful to our body. In addition, exercise improves our mood by making us feel better and lighter. It boosts our energy by pumping blood to the cardiovascular system which in turn helps blood flows throughout our body thereby transporting nutrients to all parts of our body and energizing us.

Exercise helps our sex life. It can cause enhanced sexual arousal in women. And studies have shown that men who exercise are less predispose to erectile dysfunction than those who don’t. Finally, exercise helps our memory. It helps the brain neurons and transmitters to function optimally.

Exercise is fun. So take a 30 minutes walk, join a sport club or a dance club, ride your bicycle, swim at your favourite pool and enjoy the enormous benefits of exercise.

Remember, consistency is the the key. Exercise regularly.

Enjoy your weekend.

Many thanks for reading and sharing.

I SALUTE YOU!
